Themed AAA Sections

Background
Starting Spring 2014, multiple themed/infused sections of AAA 090 have been offered including.
  • Allied Health (Spring 2014, Fall 2014, Fall 2015, Spring 2016)
  • Business (Spring 2014, Fall 2015)
  • Protective Services (Fall 2014)
  • Education (Fall 2015)
  • Human Services (Fall 2015)

Initial Results (Spring 2014 Pilot) 
  • Of the 28 students enrolled after the drop date in AAA 090 with a Business Infusion and AAA 090 with an Allied Health Infusion, 24 completed the course for an 86% completion rate (non-infused AAA course completion rate is 76%). 
  • The GPA for students who completed the two infused courses for Spring 2014 was a 3.33, compared to an average GPA for all AAA 090 students Spring 2014 of a 2.54. 
  • Pre/post test data demonstrated student’s self-identified growth, with notable items being a significant increase in student confidence reading textbooks, effectively taking notes, and learning several new ways to study. 
  • 100% of students completing one of the two CTE Infused courses indicated strongly agreeing that they now know how to properly dictate citations on academic papers, compared with 80% on the pretest.
