Goals 2013-2014

KPI: Assess growth through pre/post Career Decision Making software and pre/post survey

  1. Create and pilot two sections of CTE infused AAA courses.

  • AAA 090 - Allied Health (taught by Janet Chase with 22 students enrolled) and AAA 090 - Business (taught by Linda Zamora with 6 students enrolled) were offered Spring 2014.  Curriculum was developed by tailoring current materials to the "themed" area.   Three new questions will be added to the post assessment to assess these two specialized classes.

2. Enhance the AAA 090 career curriculum by adopting the AQIP project - Helping Students Learn, Creating a Seamless and Intentional Career Engagement Continuum: Awareness to Career Choice. [KPI: Assess growth through pre/post Career Decision Making software]

  • Piloted the use of FOCUS 2 Career Planning and Major Exploration System in four sections of AAA 090 taught by Denise Pearson.   Students completed a revamped version of the Destination Graduation project that included a career biography, assessment of their personality, interests and values, creation of their academic plan and future career goals visually in a "road map" and final paper.  Additional new career curriculum will be piloted Summer 2014.  Full infusion of the AQIP project career curriculum in all AAA 090 sections offered is planned for Fall 2014.

3. Modify AAA 090 curriculum to create more intentional outcomes and decide which objectives warrant content exposure only [KPI: Assess growth through pre/post survey]

  • The AAA 090 instructor team brainstormed the vital academic and affective skills for the AAA curriculum.  The list was organized to create a set of learning outcomes focused on helping students develop academic habits and personal responsibility.  Curriculum is being developed to focus on these revised learning outcomes.   The pre/post survey is being enhanced to gain a baseline of student academic habits and levels of personal responsibility self reported from their previous education.  This information will be utilized by instructors to adjust curriculum to student learning needs during the semester.  At the end of AAA 090, the same survey will be given to assess growth.
